Elementary School Librarian/Media Specialist:

MS in Library & Information Science, previous experience in school setting preferred. Must hold MA DESE certif. Knowledge of current practices in library media; ability to develop instructional goals for students; ability to manage print and electronic collection of curricular support materials and equipment necessary. Qualifications:
  • Certified as a school librarian by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Successful previous experience as a librarian

  • Ability to be an instructional partner with teachers from all subject areas

Duties:
  • Create an exciting learning experience and an information and technologically rich environment
  • Assist every student in getting the best information to fulfill their assignments
  • Teach students the research process
  • Guide and teach students to evaluate information, particularly from internet resources
  • Maintain an accurate/current inventory of books, periodicals, and technological resources
  • Facilitate the acquisition of new materials and participate with regional library systems such as SAILS and SEMLS to provide online catalogue data bases and other materials
  • Any other duties which promote effective use of the I.M.C.

Salary: Salary and benefits will be based on the Fall River Public Schools and FREA negotiated contract based on previous experience, degree(s) and credit status.
